COURSES:

Mechanics 9

Maintenance  and  operation  of  basic  hand  and  power tools  related  to  the  course  is  emphasized.  The  primary focus is: basic theory of operation of two and four stroke cycle engines,  disassembly,  inspection  and  successful reassembly of a small four stroke cycle internal combustion engine (single cylinder), and design and construction of a CO2 cartridge-powered model race car.

Learning Outcomes:
Self and Society - employability skills, potential careers, legal and ethical responsibilities.
Safety - apply safe work practices and safe use of tools and equipment.
Shop Practices - access and use technical information, make accurate measurements.
Power Train - describe operation of engines and support systems, drive line component and perform service and inspection procedures.
Body and Chassis - identify and describe suspension and steering components and brake systems. Perform service and inspection procedures. Describe procedures for minor body and trim maintenance
Electrical and Electronic Systems - Describe ignition, starting, and charging systems. Perform service and inspection procedures. 

Automotive Technology 12 Engine/Drivetrain

Safety - Apply safe work practices and safe use of tools and equipment
Shop Practices - Consistently perform accurate measurements and evaluate results. Consistently demonstrate the correct use of tools and equipment. Engines - remove and install and engine. Recondition or rebuild the engine.

Transmissions - Describe the operation of automatic and manual transmissions. Remove and install a transmission.
Clutch Assembly - remove, inspect and replace a clutch assembly.

Final drive Assembly - set up a differential assembly. Repair and install a drive axle. 

Automotive Technology 12

Self and Society - employability skills, use recycling practices, analyze new technology.
Safety - Apply safe work practices and safe use of tools and equipment.

Shop Practices - Access and use technical information, take accurate measurements and compare to specifications. Use tools and diagnose equipment correctly.

Power Train - inspect engines, support systems and drive line components. Maintain and repair at least one of the above.
Chassis - Explain the function of brake components and steering and suspension systems. Maintain or repair tires and one of brakes, suspension, or steering.
