Dear students, parents, and guardians,
I hope this message finds you safe and well during these unprecedented times in our community, across the country, and around the world.
To ensure the safety of school communities across the province, the Government of British Columbia has suspended all in-class instruction until further notice. This means that Smithers Secondary School is closed and the doors of the building will remain locked until further notice.
To protect the health and well-being of our students and staff, I ask that all students remain home and await further information as it pertains to their education. School District 54 and school based administration will start planning for next steps tomorrow and will provide further communication via parent email as soon as possible.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we develop a plan in response to the evolving circumstances surrounding COVID-19. Your health and well-being is very important to me, and I am thinking of you and your families during this challenging time.
